Soft Doll Care
Plush Dolls:
To properly care for a soft plush doll, here are some general care instructions
Surface cleaning:
Regularly remove dust and dirt from the doll's surface using a soft brush or a lint roller. Gently brush or roll over the doll to lift off any loose particles.
Spot cleaning:
If the doll gets stained or soiled, use a mild detergent or baby shampoo mixed with water. Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution and gently dab the affected area, being careful not to saturate the doll. Blot the area with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soapy residue. Allow the doll to air dry completely before using or storing.
Machine washing:
Place the doll in a pillowcase or a laundry bag to protect it during the wash cycle. Use a gentle cycle and cold water, and opt for a mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Once the wash cycle is complete, remove the doll from the pillowcase or laundry bag and allow it to air dry thoroughly.
Avoid excessive heat:
Keep the doll away from direct heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, or hot air vents. Excessive heat can damage the polyester fibers and cause them to warp or melt.
Prevent fading:
To preserve the doll's colours, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Over time, sunlight can cause the colours to fade or deteriorate. If displaying the doll, consider rotating its position periodically to distribute any potential fading evenly.
Storage:
When not in use, store the plush doll in a clean and dry environment. Avoid storing it in plastic bags, as they can trap moisture and promote the growth of mould or mildew. Instead, use a breathable fabric bag or wrap the doll in acid-free tissue paper. Keep it in a place where it won't be crushed or squeezed to maintain its shape.
Fabric Dolls:
Your Doll is stuffed with wool. If your doll gets dirty, wash by spot cleaning with a soft cloth and a little wool friendly soap. Make sure to run up and down with the grain of the fabric, or crochet pattern. Rinse well. You may also give your doll a quick soak in a sink filled with cool water and wool friendly soap. Squeeze out the excess by blotting in a towel, and leave out to dry.
Quick tip:
Sunshine is a natural antibacterial, so a little sun time is good for your doll.
