Celebrating the International Day of Play: Embracing the Joy and Benefits of Play for All Ages

Hello beautiful people!

As a proud Black woman, mom, and entrepreneur, I am thrilled to share my thoughts on the International Day of Play and its significance for everyone, not just children. Through my business, Amaris and Chaya, which celebrates diversity and inclusion with our unique dolls, toys, educational puzzles, and affirmation accessories, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible power of play. Let’s dive into the various types of play and how they benefit our mental health and well-being.

Imaginative Play: Sparking Creativity and Building Emotional Intelligence

Imaginative play, especially with dolls and plushies, is more than just fun. It’s a gateway to creativity and emotional growth. Watching my children interact with our inclusive dolls from Amaris and Chaya, I see them create stories, navigate social scenarios, and express their feelings. This type of play helps kids develop empathy, problem-solving skills, and a rich imagination that stays with them for life.

Educative Play: Learning Through Fun

Education doesn’t have to be boring! Educative play with books, puzzles, board games, learning apps, and video games makes learning enjoyable. At Amaris and Chaya, we offer a range of educational puzzles and games that challenge young minds while keeping them engaged. This kind of play enhances cognitive skills, improves concentration, and encourages a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Artistic Play: Unleashing Inner Creativity

There’s something magical about artistic play. Whether it’s drawing, painting, or crafting, artistic play allows children (and adults!) to express themselves freely. When my kids dive into their art supplies, their faces light up with joy and concentration. It’s a wonderful way to boost creativity, relieve stress, and build fine motor skills. Plus, who doesn’t love displaying their child’s artwork proudly on the fridge?

Outdoor Play: Embracing Nature and Physical Activity

Getting outside and moving is essential for everyone. Outdoor play, be it sports, park fun, or simply running and walking, is vital for physical health and mental well-being. It’s a chance to breathe fresh air, soak up the sunshine, and burn off energy. When my family spends time at the park, we bond, laugh, and create memories that strengthen our relationships.

Creative Play: Building and Imagining with Hands-On Fun

Creative play with blocks, LEGOs, and stackable toys is a fantastic way to enhance problem-solving skills and hand-eye coordination. Watching my kids construct their imaginative worlds with our stackable toys from Amaris and Chaya is inspiring. This type of play fosters spatial awareness and perseverance, teaching them that even if their tower falls, they can always rebuild it.

Play is for Everyone

Play isn’t just for kids; it’s a joy for all ages. It's a way to connect, learn, grow, and most importantly, have fun.

As adults, we often forget the importance of play in our lives. It reduces stress, boosts happiness, and keeps our minds sharp. So, whatever type of play you choose, make sure you have fun!

Don’t forget to check out the Amaris and Chaya website and explore our collection of inclusive dolls, educational toys, and positive affirmation bags, totes, and cushion covers. Remember, play is essential for everyone. Let’s celebrate the International Day of Play by embracing the joy and benefits of play in our lives. Keep playing, stay happy, and spread the love!
